NZ Fashion Week 2012
New Zealand Fashion Week was the highlight of September for the Trelise Cooper team, and an exceptionally busy time with 3 shows on during the week and a public show at Fashion Weekend on the Sunday.
COOP by Trelise Cooper was first up on Tuesday, with a full house packing the main tent to see COOP’s second NZFW show. A collaboration between Trelise and her longtime design assistant Lauren Connolly, the collection was fresh and vibrant with bright graphic prints complemented by sequins, and velvet florals. COOP was met with a rapturous response and began a brilliant NZFW for the team.
Next up on Wednesday was the Trelise Cooper and Cooper by Trelise Cooper show, which had two full showings back to back, meaning an audience of nearly 2000 people saw those two shows. Media, buyers and VIP guests were welcomed into the tent awash with tiny LED fairy lights glowing from the goodie bags on every seat before Cooper by Trelise opened the show under a archway of gold balloons.
Cooper presented a really wearable collection of relaxed winter looks with lots of layering, mixtures of stripes, plaids and florals styled in an eclectic way. Drawing from tribal influences with deconstructed edges, the tones were earthy with pops of colour in lots of warm winter layers.
After Cooper the lights dimmed and the gold balloons disappeared to reveal an ornate archway covered in fairylights reminiscent of Brighton Palace Pier. The Trelise Cooper collection, which was inspired by the grandeur of the Belle Epoque era, graced the runway next with models made up with glowing make-up under veils and feathers. The collection was luxurious in sumptuous silks and brocades with beautiful embellishments in feminine silhouettes.
Continuing on with the illuminating theme, the lights dimmed again after the collection and three models with lit up LED skirts took to the runway under darkness to the delight and rapture of the audience capping off a spectacular show.
