Flashbulbs popped and jaws dropped as the models strutted down the runway in Cooper, Trelise Cooper and the newest addition to the TC family, Boardroom.
Cooper was inspired by the silver screen, think of a sophisticated yet rebellious interpretation of Annie Get Your Gun. Pioneering the south where manly silhouettes ruled and couture tailoring was for the Dukes and Barons. Think of the TV show Deadwood and the movie Far and Away for loveable rogues, mavericks of the South and prairie dames. American frontier Couture meets prairie romanticism.
At TC Fantasy greenhouse ruled, hothouse horticulture with bold botanics – think Tinkerbell trapped in a bell jar. Soft chiffons and the dusky florals of foxgloves, hollyhocks and diaphanous. Adventure in the Scottish highlands among heather strewn fields wearing checks and tweeds of eccentric ladies of the manor. A collage of print, texture and soft sorbet colours – shades of lilac, rose and violet.
For the more refined part of collection think moody blues, dark hues of charcoal, black and midnight blue. Chic and ladylike with flash of silver, darkly prim. Wacky magical birds imprinted on a background of dark foliage.
Trelise even had time to talk about the collections with Antonia Prebble backstage after the show.
